A site for all gardeners but mostly a reminder that we don't need to live in the country to grow food andkeep a few ducks, chickens,or geese around
Urban farmers......Patio gardeners.....However we define what we're doing,we're growing food. Sometimes for our families and sometimes to sell. We know our fresh food tastes better than most of what we buy in the supermarket. Gardening... is a domestic art, a science, exercise and sometimes a chore. It's always nourishment in body and soul.Anyone over the age of 50 will remember a garden in their family, maybe the grandmother, maybe an Uncle, maybe their mother, but they all remember fresh tomatoes and corn.Unfortunately, few people, even those with large in town lots, grow vegetable gardens anymore. food is getting more expensive and lower in quality. What's the most logical thing to do? Plant food!..anywhere it will grow! Slowly, but surely, more and more people are turning their lawns, patios and any available space into colorful, healthy, gardens. This wiki is a place we can inspire, teach and share tips, seeds and plants to keep the gardens growing. The link below will take you to a video of what some ambitious people are doing to feed their local community: http://www.pbs.org/food/shows/food-forward/
